Comes from the US car makers changed to metric much earlier than the UK ones
(I still don't know the exact status, but assume most of them are fully
metric by now.
It's like changing to the Euro (got the first set Eurocoins now and these
are too many!) - everyone should go for a standard - metric is most used by
now. The British Heritage definitively is not metric!
