I finished repainting the dash & glove box lid on my 1966, as well as a few
under hood items using wrinkle paint. I have used several different brands
of paint, all seem to be the same.
Since most of us are not enjoying 85-90` weather, spray & put in the sun
will not work. I have an industrial heat gun which did the trick. With
these, you have to be careful not to overheat. Most of the heat was directed
to the underside of the dash, with a few passes over the front surface.
Two other ways to heat the surface are a pair of 100-150 watt light bulbs,
or your(wifes?) hair dryer.
Go slow. If one area wrinkles, another doesn't, apply more heat in the one
area. Remember, you can't respray just a section, it sticks out like the
proverbial.. If you are not happy with the first attempt, sand it off & try
again. Helpful to try on the glove box lid first (smaller area to re-sand if
you are not happy.
I have used the wrinkle paint over bare, clean metal & over primer, & see no
real difference.
