Hi Gang,
As I announced last week, my driver, Rod and I
competed in the SCCA "London to Paris Rally" this
past weekend. We don't know where we finished
because we had to leave before the final times were
tallied. I'll learn later today.
I am writing because there was an Austin coupe' in
the rally. I don't know my Austins, let alone the coupes
and saloons, but it was in nice condition and powered
by an MG 1800 engine with a single SU carb. The car
handled terrifically and had adequate power for it's size/
weight. We were quite impressed. We followed the car
through the mountains until we discovered a timing error
that allowed us to terrorize some road.
In this event, we championed an '88 BMW E30 M3.
It was STUNNING. The M3's 200+ horsepower and
incredible suspension made it a monster on the mountain
roads!
I wish we could have enjoyed the MG but that was just
not to be. It will belong to another ListMember later
this week!
I'll report our rally results later when I know them.
Until then, wish us luck!
