My friend gave me his '67 MGB-GT. After I got it I noticed the VIN plate
was broken off. Part of it was still attached but no numbers. Also the VIN#
that is on the registration (no title) is GHD31198703, that almost
corresponds to the year 1967 and an MGB-GT, but not really. The body plate
is almost completely illegible, I can make out GBD and that is it. I can
read my engine # 18GB-U-H-53256. I used the old registration to get mine
and now its seaworthy. At least in DMV's eyes. Is it stolen? I doubt it. Is
it carelessness and neglect over the 34 years it been around? Probably. You
can go to the Heritage Trust, and they will do the work for you for about
$40. It is $55 if they have to research from an engine # alone (yes, they
can do it). $55 dollars can get you a lot of parts on Ebay though, and that
is the route I have decided to take.

Jim L
1967 MGB-GT, black, waiting to be brought home. (the name will be Henry
Morgan or Casey Morgan. The car came with a Jamaican grill badge, and its
black, so it would seem to me it is the perfect pirate's car. Morgan had
two ships, The Oxford and The Satisfaction, they don't seem correct for the
name of a car. My wife also pointed out that a car should have a girl's
name. Our friends have a playful, rambunctious little cat named Casey, she
said use that. So what do you think, reply privately if you like. JD you
must have input on this one?)
