My suspicion is that they have gotten corroded with rust from the moisture
in the cabin over time. My solution is to unplug the bullet connectors,
clean with steel wool and sandpaper, making certain to clean the female
bullet as well as the male. Then using Vaseline reassemble the connectors.
You should get another decade or two out of them this way.
When you pull them apart, if any of the bullet connectors pull off of the
end of the wire, that will be a convenient time to replace both ends of the
connector and you will likely find that this also cures your warm wire
problem.
