A good cleanup is the first thing to do, however if the receptacle contacts
show the same problem as the original black ones in my GT, it has no sense.
Almos all original black ones suffered of metal fatigue - no spring load
anymore to hold the bullet connectors - had become brittle....
Anybody with the same experience?

Since the heating up is due to the resistance between corroded contacts,
I'd try
cleaning them first. I think there are corrosion-removing dips that you
might
try submerging the connectors in. Perhaps an electronics supply warehouse
could
tell you what is available.
