The prolem is probably a poor ground. Two suggestions: 1. spend a lot of time going over the wires and reconnecting the ground. 2. Buy an electronic flasher unit. This replaces the mechanical flasher, it just plugs in. I'm not sure, but I think it works on voltage rather than amperage. I bought one for $7.95 and haven't had any problems since.
