Hi Max, I own a '69 B and don't follow you about the timing pointers. Mine has a timing plate mounted on the bottom of the timing gear cover. You have to get under the car to time it from the #1 cylinder. Either the timing isn't set right, you have a weak spark, or it isn't getting enough gas.
