George:
1) Move the vehicles close, but DON'T LET THEM TOUCH.
2) Put on safety glasses, long sleeve shirt, trousers, shoes, and
cap for protection from battery acid. Have a bucket of water
handy to wash if necessary. It doesn't happen often, but
batteries have blown up during this proceedure at about the same
rate as you winning the lottery.
3) Connect a red jumper to frame of the TD, or the grounded
terminal (positive), and the other end to positive terminal of
the booster battery. That's usually red and has + beside it.
4) Connect a black jumper to the TD's battery connection which
goes to the starter switch (negative) and finally connect the
other end to the booster car's frame,
engine, or the batteries grounded terminal (negative).
5) In the summer it is not neccessary to start the booster car
unless you have to crank the TD a lot.
