BTW, I was told that the MGB's that were destined for export to Hawaii
didn't have heaters.
 

Sounds reasonable.  My heater has been disconnected and all the coolant
lines running to it have been capped off (DPO).
Here in Tel Aviv I have never needed it, and barring Nuclear Winter, I
probably never will.
8-9 months out of the year, I don't even need the top.
