Folks.
During a long trip (third gathering of British cars on PEI - farthest
participant was a "b" from Virginia - great Weekend !) ..the car worked as it
should..everything was great..the only drawback was the amount of heat in the
car. When we arrived home on Sunday, we felt fricasseed ! Our non air
conditioning cars (in the OLD days) were hot but I don't remember the amount
of heat coming in from the engine bay and transmission tunnel. Do our memories
grow fonder as we get older ??? I have no desire to put air on the MG (like
some have done in the states and Australia) but I couldn't miss the nifty side
vents in the Jags that opened and ported air directly to your feet where there
tends not to be a whole lot of movement in the 'gt. Has anyone done this
conversion ? Does anyone have any ideas except for dryer vent hose duct taped
to the car :) My car is a 71 bgt ..no vents in the dash and the heater
fan.....oh well. I tried taking the rubber seals off of the firewall last
week (which gave me a 4X4 hole) but it turned out be one of my "not so great"
ideas...more breeze but the smell :) I an told that a sunroof (Wabasto)
doesn't do much for the airflow around your feet...
There is a lot of conversation around installing special insulation around the
transmission tunnel which sounds great but I glued my carpets down during the
last refit and have no desire to rip the seats/carpet out again for awhile.
Has anyone ran a duct from the nose (behind the grill) to the firewall to vent
the feet ?
