One of our club members in CT recently completed a magnificent
restoration of an MGB, that included polishing and clear coating the
brake lines. It did not pass state inspection because the inspectors
noted the shiny "copper" color. Once he produced invoices for the
cupro-nickel lines and got a review by a supervisor of the inspection
program, he did get the car on the road. Lower level inspectors did not
want to pass a car for which they could not positively tell that the
lines were not copper.
