Guys,
After being told that one of my Rostyles could not be balanced because
it was 'warped' I wasn't surprised to feel a little 'pulsing' of the
brake pedale when lightly braking. But when this continued after
changing to my 'track' wheels I got a little concerned. At the moment
that 'pulsing' has become a steering wheel rattling shudder - but still
only under 'light' braking.
So I pulled the front wheels off again (changing back to my 'road'
wheels) but before I did I tried spinning each front wheel while it was
jacked up. The front right wheel spins OK (there may be a little
resistance in one spot, but only even slightly noticable if I rotate the
wheel ever so slowly and lightly).
The front right wheel is another story. A light spin will actually come
to a halt on a 'high spot'. With the wheel off and turning the hub by
hand I can really notice it. I think it goes beyond the "The Complete
Official MGB" manual statement of "the faces must run true to within a
total clock reading of .002in (.05mm)..."
Firstly, I think I had better get this seen to :-)
Secondly, what causes this... I can only guess that it is 'warping', so
I can try to prevent it happening again? Throwing the thing around a
racetrack couldn't do it, could it?
Please ... throw the newbie a bone!
