It isn't an MG any more than NASCAR cars are what they say, I agree.
But it is giving them a chance to do something they haven't done
since 1967. Perhaps they are trying to learn about the motor so they
can put it in an MGF and race LeMans that way; whatever the reason
I'm sure that they have one. If nothing else, it created a huge
buzz in most of the international racing community. If this is the
kind of visibility it takes to get them back to the US, and racing,
then I think it is a good start. I say give it a few years and lets
see what they can make of this.
I don't think we need to get excited just because the car says MG on
it. I don't have any interest in Bentley, and am not at all attached
to thier vintage cars, but I got really excited that they had made a
return, because they were important to the sport in thier day. My
hope is that all of this is going to mark a return of MG, not only to
the US, but to the racing world too. ( I know of the MGF cup). I for
one, was born only a few months before the B went out of production.
I think it would be neat to walk into a show room and see a new MG.

A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have
evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine.
