The girlfriend and I went to see that new movie "Swordfish", and the car
driven by the bad guy was a TVR. Granted it looks like it was brand new,
but it brought to mind the TVR I almost owned. :(
A neighbor down the street got a TVR to settle a debt. The engine was
trashed (non-running) and the interior wasn't any good wither, but the body
was absolutely pristine. Having seen my (at the time) two MGBs in the
driveway, he came by and asked if if I'd be interested in the car. After
figuring out _what_ it was (with help from this list IIRC), I went and
looked at it and decided I'd like to buy it.
I told him to line up the title and I'd get the money. He was having
problems getting it and I ended up leaving on vacation for a week. When I
got back I went to see him and he had sent it to the crusher for scrap. He
said he figured I wouldn't take it without a title. I was soooooo bent... I
REALLY wanted that car!
There are few things I kick myself for, but not making sure that car was in
my possession before I left on vacation is one of them. *sigh*
Maybe some day. :)
