Could be the hydraulic switch. You can find out by shorting the switch
with a jumper wire to see if the brake lights come on (the ignition
switch has to be on). I went through three or four of those switches
before I gave up and wired a mechanical switch from a 70's chevy into a
bracket I fabricated out of steel and attached to the brake pedal. Works
like a champ now!
