Taking the manifold off the engine is one possibility but we have some kind
of free-flow three into one, very bulky, manifold, there is maybe 1/4 inch
clearance between the manifold and steering column. I haven't tried yet but
I am fairly convinced that the steering rack would have to come out to give
enough clearance to move the manifold out of the way.
Looking at it further, the exhaust actually slides up over the manifold
downpipe, why it was welded instead of using a clamp I will never know!
I think I can get to the welded section with a Dremel, I'm going to give
that a go now, haven't tried cutting pipe of that thickness with a Dremel
yet, hope it works! :)
