Mel,

My 72 B turned over without a hitch and everything is still working at
140,000 or so.  I doubt that your speedometer and gear is much different
than mine so fixing it should take care of the problem.  Probably just an
accumulation of crud that prevented the turnover.

Just turned 100,000 miles on our 71 MGB GT.  At the change from 99,999 the
odometer quit working
