I was thinking along the lines of a traditional valve that was used as the 
center shaft in the electromagnet.  Valves themselves seem to be light enough, 
so in theory if you mounted a coil around the valve stem, I would think that 
your moving mass would only be a couple of grams (the weight of the valve).
