Ha! vacuum lines hee he hee...
I think I can answer this one very safely. he he
The late model B's used 'manifold' vacuum.
That is to say... the tap for the dist. vac. unit came
directly from a port on top of the intake manifold.
BE VERY CAREFUL which vacuum advance unit you use
with which vacuum source you use. (manifold or carb tap)
as well as matching it to the mechanical advance
within the distributor. The different vac. adv. units have
different curves, designed to come in at different levels
of vacuum with different amounts of advance.
check out
www.teglerizer.com/mgstuff/advance_curves.htm
for details as to what goes with what.
Ignore the years (model) and what you think it should be.
If you work with what you have and hook it up accordingly
everything will work just fine (if the combo is compatible)
BTDT ...two years chasing that one down!
Good Luck

Subject: Technical Question
I have searched the web and the repair manuals fairly dilligently
and can't find the answer to this one.
Background:
--------
1. Body 1977 MGB Roadster
2. Engine from a 71.
3. Someone in the past obviously played "Mix-n-Match" with parts to get
the car running.
4. SU HS4 Carbs with PCV ports on the top rear outside corner of the
body.
5. No Vacuume advance port on the top center of the body on the rear
carb.
6. I found one picture of an engine that looked similar with the EGR
and Vac hose but it
shows the hookup going to the top of the rear carb into a port that
doesn't exist on my
system.
Question:
------
Where does the vacuume line for the distributer vacuume advance hook up?
Thanks
Brent
