Sorry I haven't followed this string more closely but I do wonder if you are 
all purchasing OE equivalent head bolts or are some just going to an auto 
store and matching sizes.
The potential problem here being that you may be getting modern 
"torque-to-yeild" type head bolts not the standard head bolts which will have 
higher yield strength allowing you to attain the recommended torque for the 
MGB.
I apologize if this has already been covered.
