I have no idea, but here are some wild guesses:

They break them in on the production line with some kind of run
simulator....

New ring metallurgy and cylinder wall treatments make traditional break-in
procedures unnecessary...

They throw in an oil additive for break-in which will last until the first
oil change...

They do it because of an advertising contract with the oil company, not
because it's good for the engine...

They figure it doesn't matter because the customer never uses proper
break-in procedure anyway, and there is nothing they can do about it...

Take your pick <g>!
