Okay, you obviously got past the "OT" in the subject line without hitting
the DELETE key, so it's on your head, I'm not a criminal. In at least 4
years on this list I don't recall ever posting an OT message before. This
is not directly MG related, but it results from many messages from members
of the mgs list asking questions about the following topics, and as usual,
when I get multiple requests for the same information, and I get tired of
retyping the stuff, I figure it's time to update my website.

I have just posted on line half a dozen new web pages on topics related to
web page and web site construction. This is linked from my tech index
page. It all starts here (gotta notice the directory name):
    http://www.ntsource.com/~barneymg/offtopic
and deals with the following topics:

DC-101 presents some things you should know before buying a DIGITAL CAMERA
to be sure you get some features you need, and not to spend too much cash.

DC-201 presents the basics of DATA COMPRESSION and IMAGE TYPES so that you
might build a website without wasting a lot of memory space, and download
time.

WP-101 is an introduction to the basics of WEB PAGES and HTML CODING, not a
complete primer, but just to get you started.

WP-102 is a mention of some of the do's and don'ts of WEB PAGE DESIGN, in
the interest of keeping things simple, fast, and a pleasure for the visitors.

WP-103 RELATIVE ADDRESSING and PORTABLE WEB PAGES.
"....as a good engineer it is my thing in life to be basicly lazy, and so
always looking for the easiest way to do things"

WS-201 SELECTING A WEB SERVER to host your internet web site.
This includes a list of "must have's" and quite a long list of pitfalls
(mostly knocking AOL).

I only slipped in one girly picture to break down the boredom, but hey,
since it's all off topic anyway, I figure sucker bait is fair. Most
additions to my web site are done for, and on behalf of, and at the request
of the visitors. So as usuall, all comments are welcome. I've been
working on this site for a few years now, and it's all getting fairly big.
Perhaps y'all could raise a vote and tell me if it might be reasonable to
start blowing a horn and calling this the premier MGA web site of the
world? Or not, maybe.
