In regard to this current thread, on my desmogged'69 with the 18GF engine, I
replaced the OEM SUs with new HS4's, Moss 372-248 and the 25D with the 45D,
Moss 143-110. I too, was concerned with vacuum and centrifugal advance
curves being correct. Also, am using K&N filters and Lucas Sport coil.
Here's the result:
-engine starts easily and pulls strongly to red line with no flat spots.
-timing with strobe set at 14degrees @ 650rpm, vacuum plugged
-20degrees @ 2000 rpm w/ vacuum
-30degrees @ 3000 rpm w/vacuum
-35degrees @ 3500 rpm w/vacuum
starts to flatten out above 3500 rpm
Hope this helps
