Hi Gang,
It's Rick here on my home account. I have a problem
with a Lucas 25D4 distributor that I am rebuilding.
The whole distributor was locked up when I started.
Gentle persuasion freed up everything except for the
cam on the main shaft. The cam assembly must rotate
freely on the shaft or the centrifugal advance will not
operate. Mine is bloody frozen. Any tips on freeing it?
Needless to say, the screw has been removed.
I have soaked the cam assembly in penetrating oil,
tried to gently rotate with the shaft secured in a vice,
tapped it lightly with a hammer trying to break free any
rust but I haven't <yet> tried applying heat.
All constructive comments encouraged. Thanks.
Rick
