My sad saga nears an end. My dying BGT has spawned into two more cars. I
received a check from the insurance company for a little over $2000 last
week. Then today, with good timing, I put in a bid on Ebay for a 65 MGB
plus 72 MGB parts car. With less than 60 seconds to go, my insurance
settlement has gotten me two new cars.
The 65 runs but it contains the drive train from the 72. If all goes well,
I can bring the 72B back to life with the parts from my wrecked 71BGT.
There is a downside to this. I've been looking for a buildable roadster
within 1000 miles of here since late October to replace the wrecked car.
These two cars are located in Wichita, Kansas - slightly over 1000 miles
away. To get them back here to Montana, my plan is to tow the 72B shell
behind my Ford Explorer (on a trailer or dolly from Uhaul) while my son
drives the 65B. An adventure for sure.
Any listers in Denver and the area from Denver to Wichita (I-70) who can
provide me some help - like weather forecasts for this weekend and anyone
who might want to catch up to this trek either to help or maybe laugh at
this wild plan? I mention Denver because its the midpoint and will probably
be our stopping point on the trip back. Weather is the big factor - it
looks safe to the south but we have snows coming in Montana and single
digit temperatures on the way by Sunday or Monday. The big trip will either
be this weekend or next weekend depending on the weather forecast.
