If you have manifold vacuum check the braided ground wire between the points
plate and the dizzie body.  I had a Scimitar many years ago that was not
provided with that wire and poking the accellerator to pull away sometimes
caused the engine to miss a few beats (not good when you have just started
pulling across a junction) because the sudden movement of the points plate
due to the change in vacuum caused the points ground to go HR for a bit.
Installing a ground wire cured the problem.

In response to someone else it was the poppet valve that gave more air flow
and hence more fuel flow than normal when the throttle was suddenly closed.
Soldering up the valve causes a higher vacuum *behind* the butterflys, a
lower vacuum in front of it, and hence *less* mixture is sucked in, not
more.
