I went through the same problem with the front right fender repair on my 79 midget. I found that a small dia. wire (.25) and low power was part of the answer. I also had to keep the nozzle almost parallel to the metal. That is as close as I could get. Building the weld pool in small sections and letting it cool then continuing. I also had to grind of excess weld. The technique also worked for rusted through areas . Hope this helps ! Mark H. 79 MG Midget |
