I know this is not a Porsche list but to be fair to the shop in question
$8000 _might_ be reasonable for a Porsche 6 cylinder rebuild. Depending on
the model and what you replace those motors get very expensive very fast
(e.g. pistons & cylinders alone $1700 to $2700).
