As long as we're on the subject of wheel bearings, I'm going to be putting
some on later today - it's 2 AM right now ;-) and reading all the stuff
about MGB bearings is making me wonder if there are any particular "gotchas"
I need to watch out for on my wire wheel Midget. I talked with a fellow at
Motorhead when I picked them up and he didn't mention anything I would
consider unusual - mainly to be sure they fit tightly so I would know that
the hub was OK. I know about packing them with grease and have read the
warnings in both the Moss and VB catalogs about the direction they need to
face. But all this talk about shims etc. made me wonder if I was missing
anything. Any helpful hints?
BTW, for future reference is it possible to remove the bearing from the hub
without destroying them? I sure didn't see any way when I took them apart.
If I can get the front suspension back together and install the water pump
this weekend, I might finally get to DRIVE the thing next week! Woo-hoo!
