79B dash vents always open?

Well, I just tried searching the list archives, but I got some kind of 
"internal script" 
error.  So I'll ask my question here.

With the advent of the cooler weather, I've noticed that the center dash vents 
are 
always open.  How can they be shut?  The lever under my dash opens and closes 
an 
airflow from under the dash, but does not seem to effect the dash vents at all.
