I wrote about a whine in my previous message. Just checked the tautness of
the alternator belt. Clearly too tight.  Maybe that is the source of the
whine.

Question ye experienced ones:
  If the current provided by a jumper battery is large relative
to that provided by an old type 26 battery in my B AND the bolts
holding the alternator are
not sufficiently tight, could the start from the jump be sufficient to
move the alternator some, enough to "tighten" the belt and create a whine?
