this happens to us all come Fall/winter, when we put the hood up
after eight to nine months of top down driving. It's 'frightening' for the
first day or so but then it's OK for the rest of the winter and for the damp
part of Spring.
IF the diff oil level is to specs and the noise is not due to worn wheel
bearings, just enjoy the car 'talking' to you as you boogie along. 8^)
If you can ride in another MG the same vintage as yours and the noises are
the same, that puts a drivers mind to rest concerning those MG hood up
noises.
