Hello again listers,
I ordered an alternator from a local Autozone because its price was lower
than the catalogs and it came with a lifetime warranty. The new unit looks
and connects just like the old one but there is one problem. The connection
on the back has three spades just like the old one, but the spade in the
middle is wider than the connector on the wiring harness. The clerk who took
my order knew what he was doing and made sure that we were ordering the
correct unit and I made sure that my car's VIN # matched up with those for
1974.5. Is it safe to modify the connector to make it fit or am I back at
square one? I was so hoping to have the car out this weekend with its new
radiator, water pump and alternator...
