Thanks for all of the replies. What it turned out to be was an oversight as
only could be done by a DAM (dreaded amatuer mechanic).
Upon disassembly I didn't adequeately clean the caliper piston prior to
retracting. This caused it to stick which Ed so graciously pointed out.
Quick disassembly, more thorough cleaning and lubricating and all is well.
Did @ 225 miles last night and stopped every time with no smoke or excess
heat.
