Uh, nope, not that complicated. In its simplest form, just reverse the
battery terminals and repolarize the generator. If you're picky about
which way the spark jumps across the spark plug gap, then you can swap the
two little primary wires on the ignition coil. Nothing else on the
(original) MGA is polarity sensitive, except that there are rumors that the
windscreen wiper motor may run backwards, but you probably won't even
notice if it does, and you can't change it (easily) anyway.
The original fuel pump was not polarity sensitive, and would do okay even
with the later capacitor equiped models. However, the newer replacement
models with a diode for spark supression at the contact points ARE polarity
sensitive, and would need to have the diode reversed. These can generally
be recognized by a large bulge on the flat face of the end cap that was
added to clear the large diode inside. They should also have a polarity
label attached, but these have been known to get lost. Aftermarket
electronic fuel pumps usually are polarity sensitive, but with these you
can usually just swap the power wires.
