Check the ignition relay (forwardmost "black box" a little over 1" in
diameter...can be square if already replaced with aftermarket) on the right
hand side of the engine compartment. Did the tachometer skip somewhat before
this happened? I've had this occur at least twice on my '78 MGB. If I
remember correctly, you can disconnect the relay and place a jumper wire
betweer the Browns. The car should now start and run if the relay is
defective.
