***Price just reduced to $900 need to sell***
1969 Austin Healey Sprite for sale.
OK, here's the story. As usual, I am just driving around minding my
own business and I stopped by my mechanic's place because there was a
sprite there, and he is the only one that works on the brit cars, I
asked. Turns out, the previous owner Mr P is the original owner from
new. He put 65,000 miles on the car and put it up on blocks 10 years ago
when the weather got cold. It didn't start up the first time in the
spring, so he has done nothing to it since. It has been in dry storage
since. He had it towed to the shop on a whim to see how much it would
cost to have it restored. The figure given was not in his budget (his
budget of a couple of hundred bucks..I mean..what was he thinking??) so
he asked if anyone wanted to buy it....well, in walks Kevin..and now
this great little car is mine. One catch....I am moving...so I need to
sell ASAP. So here is the nitty gritty: The car is red, original paint,
VIN HAN77172G. This places it as a 69 model. I am an MGA guy, so bear
with me. The interior was replaced right before storage,it has tonneau,
half tonneau, all bits like the jack, spare, tools, tonneau bows, etc.
Rust: lower driver's fender, repaired with filler. Floors solid, still
body color underneath, all regular rust areas (I have dismantled many
midgets for parts, so I know where they rust)are rust free (sills,
behind seats, etc)Car is in great original condition. Engine...have not
tried to start yet..Have title(original), and owners handbook. A great
little car that could be a nice driver with a little effort. I am
working on pics. Email me for lots more details$1200

More details....
Hi,
I just got the car home. The details: Steel wheels with AH hubcaps. Old
paint (original) flaked off the hood and trunk flat surfaces. Lower 4"
of driver's front fender rusted through. Wheel well involved to same 4"
height. Sill not involved in the rust. Sills, look to be untouched by
rust except for a few small spots.(I have stripped these cars, so I have
seen these before) floors are perfect. sill line (where floor meets sill
lip) intact completely on both sides. Interior is black. New carpeting
(wet from being outside for a month of virginia downpours) black seats
with white piping. Looks like moss interior kit. I am sure it will clean
up nicely. Vertical crack along crown of dashboard right between the
posts where the tonneau attaches. Car has orig spare, jack, jack ratchet
wrench, some spark plug wrenches, half tonneau (boot cover) Orig
hood(top) is in poor shape (windows shot) tonneau bows OK, with bag.
Folding hood frame AOK. Gauges all there. Have not tried to start,
previous(original) owner cannot find, but has my address. 63,000
original miles, original title. Signed over, but not to me, so next
person who buys will be second owner. I just had it towed to my house.
Clutch master very low, clutch pedal goes to the floor. Brakes work,
tranny free(car rolls), no aftermarket messing around under the hood,
all there, original components to the engine. Looks like the car had
some body work done on the driver's fender (bondo). I am moving in a
month, so first come first served. I did not want this car to go the
crusher...it is in great shape. Oh, rear fenders and trunk all rust
free. lift up the carpet anywhere, no rust. Clean out the interior, let
it dry, armorall, get some oil in those cylinders and let it sit for a
week and I think you will be in business. Exhaust pipe is badly rusted,
but all suspension components, brake components, etc look like they only
need a good cleaning, maybe rebuild the clutch master, replace all
rubber pipes and hoses and you would have a runner. the only place other
than the front fender would be the pass A post has some rust spots
(smaller than a silver dollar) Badly weathered, but in great shape. Have
NOS AH emblem for front. Also, looked at numbers again, and the title,
car manufactured in June 1968. I am waiting on a friend to email me the
pics I took with his digital camera today. I am located 40 mins SW of
DC. From here to Baltimore is 1.5 hrs for me.
Hope this helps
Price negotiable
Kevin
PS, talked to the previous owner,he bought it for his wife brand new in
69. She put every mile of the 63,000 on it and is very sad to see it go.
Orig title is neat...$2,495 new.
