MGB Hardtop

How crucial is the mounting hardware on the hardtop that attaches
where the soft top hinges would attach?  I did not get that hardware
with the top.  The top latches onto the windshield  clamp down with no
problem and the top hooks down snug on the chrome hooks on the back
deck.  Need to drive the car to Lexington for some work and it has
been raining here on and off all week, so I have been thinking  the
hardtop.
