That was Phil Hill, and interestingly it was actually on Oct 2nd. When the
news was received in England it was the next day, hence the common error.
Stirling Moss achieved 245.64 on Aug 23 1957 in Utah, but the engine was
enlarged from 1489 to 1506 for Phil Hill's runs.
