Boy, these guys are killers! I am replacing my steering rack boots, and am
trying to get the darn tie rod end off of the tie rod. I cannot even turn
the lock nut on the tie rod. I did manage to get the tapered tie rod end
out of the knuckle, but of course cannot turn the tie rod end without
turning the whole tie rod (How does one hold the tie rod still while
turning the tie rod end off? Pipe wrench? !) . Everything is frozen solid.
I will replace the tie rod end/ball joints if and when I can get the old
ones off.... Anyone have any nifty ideas besides plenty of brute force,
bolt loosener, or a new steering assembly? Thanks for the insight......:) -
