woodpeckers and fuel filters

A while ago, a thread passed through here about fuel filters that sounded
like woodpeckers. 

What was that all about?

I replaced my fuel pump and the new one (Lucas new) sounds like a
woodpecker although it works.  I prefer that it sound like a songbird.
