The attached email was received by me this afternoon and as I'm not a
mechanic I'm passing it on to the LIST to see if anyone can help this
guy.
I am assuming that this is a clutch problem but others prolly have some
other possibilities.
Thanks to all
Rick Brown

Rick,
I happened to find your web page loking for information on MGB's.
I hope you would have a minute to possible shed some light on a problem I
am having.
I aquired a 71 MGB from my sister who's husband bought it at a fund raiser
(not that you care) anyways they drove it a few times and then put it in
storage. it sat for over a year.
I had then tow it to me, and since I done a few things to get it running.
The engine appears to be in good shape and when it idles it sounds rather
good.
Here is my problem,
When you put it in gear and start to let off the clutch, the car basically
has no power, and feels like it going to die. the slightest incline majes
it slow to a putter and not move. if you happen to get it going once to
are about to put it into 3rd gear it seems top pick up, but still has
little power.
I am pretty much trying to restore it alone and learn as much as i can so
I am not sure where to turn. The other thing I notcies is the prior owner
or the one b4 that removed the air pump and the rest of the EEC gear, the
air pipes that go into the manifold on the right side of the engine have
been cut and crimped. I am assuming since the engine runs fine out of gear
that the EEC system is not my major issue.
Think you could give me your opinion or a few sugestions on what to check.
Thanks for you Time
-Rick
