Last week or so someone (I forget who) was voicing displeasure concerning
the spring clip retainer for the rear brake cylinders on an MGB. I plead
guilty to responding facetiously, or at least not usefully, but another
party suggested using a snap ring in this application.
Well, this afternoon I was helping my buddy with his long-term project
''69 B, and each of us, working on dfferent sides, managed to break the
new spring clips while reassembling the rear brakes. But I piped up
"Well, we can always try snap rings", and it turned out he had a good
selection. And I'm here to report that, at least using the screw-type
snap ring tool (not the pliers type), it was a cinch! As opposed to the
preceding half-hour of cursing and fumbling.
So, whoever mentioned snap rings on the list, take a bow! I personally
think it should be SOP in the manuals. Thanks, and a tip of the cap!
