I have rolled an MGB, at about 50 mph, in the sand on
the shoulder of I-8 near Yuma, Arizona. It didn't have
a roll bar. The car flipped, landed upside down,
flipped again and landed rightside up and stayed there.
The windshield frame collapsed to about a 60 degree
angle. I was injured rather severely (I'm all healed
now...)
My new MGB V-8 has a street rollbar with the biggest
steel backing plates I could fit in the spaces available
under the car and grade 8 bolts, and 3 point harnesses.
No, it's not perfect, but it's better than nothing (from
experience).
And no, I don't plan to roll an MGB again...
