I too have a '76 MGB and yes I have more in it than it is worth should I want
to sell it. It is not an investment it is just a toy and I really enjoy it
when I drive it and even sometimes when I'm working on it. I dread the body
work but will be sooo pleased when it's done.
I have had this sort of conversation with friends about their old cars, not
necessarily British, and friends with old boats. You cannot really consider
them investments. For every 1 that somebody makes money on there are
certainly several on which the owner lost. The only people who really make
money on them are the mechanics and parts suppliers and many of them aren't
exactly getting rich.
Enjoy it and remember that your other car is probably loosing value even
faster and with a larger investment.
