In the case of the 13 year old Metro, corrosion in both brake &
suspension hydraulic lines was reported, and a garage repair would
have cost more than the value of the car.
Here in the UK, though testing procedures are standardised and safety
aspects will not be compromised, each MOT garage seems to have
slightly different standards for rejection, & I suspect that most
listers will know of a local garage who might be expected relax a
little when asked to check out their slightly special motor. We do
have a problem with rogue MOT certificates though, particularly on
second hand car lots!
