Thanks, Kelvin.
The first time I had the cover off the gear shift I thought (at first glance)
that I might have OD! It was easy to tell, however that it was too narrow....:<
I'll bet there's a good story there - how a 77 transmission got into a '67
(well, actually July '66) car! I'll be swapping it out next time I pull the
engine (hopefully a long time from now!) for my "period" transmission. The
lack of synchro at 1st gear may drive me nuts, but I think it will be quaint to
have it all original.
Thanks again,
Tony Woodruff

Tony:
It sounds like you have a 77- trans that has the second switch
installed to run the distributor vacuum solenoid valve. The switch installs
in the same location the OD switch would be.
Kelvin.
So can anyone tell me why my non-overdrive transmission (full synchro - some
PO replaced it) has two reverse-light switches? One switch is on the right
side of the tranny about halfway down, the other is near the "remote
control" shaft up-top. Of course, I don't even have reverse lights - but my
multimeter tells me that they both "connect" when I'm in reverse.

transmission on the garage floor for later!)
