3M adhesive is good, and the garbage bag is great, but the adhesive will be
tough to work with when you try to go back in and work on the door at a later
date. Best thing is "bedding and glazing compound," which can be bought at a
auto paint or body shop. Just run a bead of that around your door and stick
the plastic on. The compound never hardens, yet stays sticky. You can easily
peel the plastic off and reapply years later.
