I always tell people that when it comes to MG " I lose money on every deal
but make up for it in volume". Was never much of a "buy low / sell high"
kind of a guy and as far as I'm concerned there are way to many people in
this hobby trying to turn a buck out of it and calling them selvies
enthusiasts. I once had a person contact me about needing an air pump for
his B after he had seen something I had posted about a parts car I had
purchased. As it was he was going to Carlisle show, I offered to give him
the one that was on the car and meet him at the show so he wouldn't have to
incur any shipping. I gave it to him on Friday and got a whole story of how
much it meant to him and that he would now be able to get his car thru
emissions blah blah blah. The next day I saw it on a vendor's table (knew it
was the same by it's yellow body w/ red pully) and was told by the vendor he
had been approached by a fellow earlier who had sold it to him for $35.
Emailed him upon my return home and received no reply but will spit in his
face if / when I ever see him again. Sorry about the rant. As far as O/Ds go
$500 to $600 for a "was working when I removed it from the car last week"
unit is a fair price but a "got it from a friend who found it in a junk yard
a couple of years ago" should go for conciderably less. Just noticed that
"Former Glory Racing" (from whom I've gotten several bits at fair prices)
out of New Haven CT has an early unit listed on the parts classifies
